Mel conveys an environmental message

Before starting, Mel tells Paul to commentate her attempt.

She enters the room making bird sounds, and dressed as a bird, with red paper attached to her face and arms to represent a beak and wings, some long feathers attached to her back which stretch out either side of her, and some smaller feathers on her chest.

Paul adopts the role of nature documentary narrator, introducing the bird as a “red-feathered soft-belly tiramisu”.

Mel, in the midst of doing bird noises, hints verbally to Paul to describe her as ‘beautiful’ for the task.

While standing behind the candle, she then continues to make bird noises and flaps her wings, getting more and more agitated as the candle fails to blow out as quickly as she expects it to.

After a prolonged bout of cawing, screaming, and flapping which causes her beak to fall off her face, the candle does eventually go out.

She then says “climate change is happening”, and proceeds to slowly fall to the floor while doing less frequent bird noises. She eventually lies ‘dead’ on the floor, apparently because of climate change.

She earns joint third place.
