Dai’s binocular-themed horror movie
While reading the first task brief, Dai has trouble with the word ‘inanimate’, accidentally saying “intimate” instead.
He returns to the lab with a pair of binoculars. When Paul asks what object he’s chosen he says “Are you familiar with a telescope? This is two of them put together.”
Dai’s movie begins with him and Paul on the balcony. Paul says, “It’s a great day to come to the big game park” and Dai points out a lion in the middle of the grass, but complains that he can’t quite see it.
Another character played by Dai (wearing a hat and a red cape, and named Mustafa) then appears, and hands the men a pair of binoculars.
When Paul tries to use them to look at the lion, he screams in pain and dies with red rings around his eyes. Mustafa suggests that it must have been something he’d eaten.
Dai wants to attend to his friend, but seemingly cannot resist the urge to first also use the binoculars to look at the lion. He then predictably dies in the same way as Paul, also ending up with red rings around his eyes.
The title of the movie is revealed as “BINOCUL-AAAARGHS!”.
In the studio, Jeremy asks Dai about Mustafa’s back story, and Dai explains that he was a normal man who’d become enamoured by the binoculars, and would use them to kill people so that they could be made into meals.
Jeremy judges that the binoculars were the least scary item, and so awards Dai 2 points.
