Ray’s Pokémon challenge
Ray bets Paul he can name 100 Pokémon, but Paul ups the ante by challenging him to name 150, which Ray agrees to.
Before they shake hands, Paul asks Ray how he feels about Pokémon, and Ray initially states “I’m a fan…”, causing Paul to almost retreat from the bet. Ray then continues his sentence, stating “…of beating up people who like Pokémon”, so Paul agrees to the bet.
He starts out by listing the first generation starter Pokémon and their evolutions, including Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise.
He maintains a good pace throughout the challenge (except for when Paul interjects), naming Regice, Registeel, Regigigas, Nidoking, Nidoqueen (about which Paul makes a joke about “needing a queen”), Chimchar, Infernape, Torchic (which Paul mishears as “tall chick” and then makes a joke about Melanie Bracewell, about which Ray protests, noting that “chick” is a bit iffy).
Ray also names Swampert, Kecleon, Lickitung, Lickilicky, Koffing, and Weezing (at these last two, Paul argues that Ray is just listing adjectives, and he makes a joke about there being another Pokémon named “Breething”).
After ray names Mr Mime, Paul begins to repeat everything Ray says for a while, including “Mime Jr”.
Ray finishes up his list of 150 with the Pokémon Rayquaza, Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite.”
Since he still has some time left on the clock, Paul asks Ray if he wants to name more, and so he does continue by naming Magnemite, Magneton, Magnezone, Ledyba, Ledyin, Scyther, Scizor, and Kleavor.
Jeremy is very impressed at Ray’s memory feat in the studio. He particularly notes the name ‘Lickilicky’, which leads Ray to suggest that “a bit more Lickilicky” might have helped Karen with her marshmallow challenged. Karen responds to this with the rather more suggestive phrase "I always need a bit more licky licky", (thus coining the episode title).
Ray earns first place.
