The natural friends give each other haircuts

In the studio, prior to the reveal of the teams' attempts, Greg dubs the team of three “the natural friends”, due to the awkwardness of their initial meeting (thus coining the episode title). Alex pushes instead to name them ‘JLS’ (like the boy band).

After the team reads the first task brief, Sam suggests that everyone could cut off a bit of their hair, and then they could connect all of those strands of hair to one another. Lucy supports his idea, as she says her daughter had put something sticky in her hair that morning, which she wanted to cut out.

After double-checking with Lucy, Sam cuts off some of her hair (though definitely more than she had thought he would). Lucy then takes command of the scissors, and cuts off some of Julian’s hair. Finally, Julian proceeds to cut off some of Sam’s hair.

All three locks of hair are collected together within one of the clamps, and all three team members hold the clamp to create a further connection.

After receiving the second task brief, the natural friends - having full and independent use of their legs - simply turn and jog past the finish line together while holding the clamp.

Finishing the race in 11.5 seconds, they earn five points each.
