Mel lifts water
Mel finds a food cooler and decides to fill it with water from the lake to make it heavy.
She then discovers that this makes it really heavy, as she can barely lift it.
She creates a pulley system by hanging some rope over the balcony, and holds onto one end of the rope while the other is tied to the cooler.
She then tries to pull the cooler up off the ground, but is completely unable to do so, even when she uses all of her body weight.
She accepts Paul’s offer to get it started for her, and so he lifts the cooler up a little, picking it up by the rope it is tied to.
Paul helpfully then suggests another way that Mel could use the machine, whereby you have someone else lift it up for you, and then you have to try and hold it up off the ground yourself, using the rope.
Mel accepts this idea, and has a go at doing it, describing it as “tug of war with God”.
She earns 2 points.
