Mona the shiny Lycra monster

As she approaches the task brief, Mona muses that she must look like “a big monster in shiny Lycra” to the chickens.

She focuses on the word ‘persuade’, and notes that as she does not speak chicken, she won’t be able to convince the chickens with her words.

Mona stands still as three chickens start to walk very close to the mat of their own accord. One chicken walks near Mona and she leans down to pet it, then picks it up and places it on the mat.

As the remaining chickens have congregated to one corner of the pen, Mona decides to use the “shepherd technique” on them to encourage them to move towards the mat. This results not only in all of the chickens scattering, but in the one chicken which was already on the mat leaving it.

Mona keeps an eye on the “nice” chicken (the incredibly docile one that she had picked up earlier), informing it that it will be the final chicken she places on the mat, since it was so easy.

Mona then places another chicken on the mat, before asking Antoine if he has any chicken feed. Antoine gives Mona a bag of dried insects, which she pours onto the mat.

When the chickens start congregating in a single area again, Mona attempts to move the mat, but finds that it’s fixed to the ground.

As more chickens gather, Mona lectures them to always have two feet on the mat at all times, or she will remove their “worm privileges”.

Eventually, two chickens get onto the mat of their own accord, and Mona rushes to get a third onto the mat.

Unfortunately, when Mona drops this chicken, the movement spooks the other two back off of the mat.

There are several instances where two chickens eat on the mat while a third stands directly next to the mat, and Mona accuses the production of using “trained chickens”.

Eventually, as Mona squats next to the mat and shakes the bag of dried insects, three chickens step onto the mat to eat.

Mona completes the task in 8 minutes and 34 seconds, and earns second place.
