Phil just wants to eat pudding

When Phil sees the set-up, he is convinced that the task is to eat pudding, to the point where he considers skipping reading the task brief altogether and just having Antoine time how long it will take for him to eat the contents of all three jars.

After reading the task brief, he starts by sniffing all three jars. From his reaction, it’s clear he believes that only the third one has any chance of tasting even halfway decent.

Phil eats a spoonful from Jar 3, but his guess at its flavours is not shown.

While sniffing his spoonful from Jar 2, Phil sighs dejectedly that it all looked like pudding. He guesses that Jar 2 has chicken in it.

Phil believes, based on the colour of Jar 1, that it will be extra disgusting, and will likely contain prunes. He tells Antoine that it tastes “like sadness”.

Ultimately, Phil guesses that Jar 3 contains chicken and carrots, Jar 2 contains tuna, and Jar 1 contains “despair”.

When Antoine reminds Phil that there is a bonus point on offer for eating the most food, Phil replies that “life is not all about points”.

Unfortunately for Phil, while he guesses at least one ingredient correctly, he misidentifies which jar contains the ingredients (he mixes up Jars 2 and 3), so is credited with having no correct ingredient identifications. Phil therefore earns last place, and no points.
