Sue bets on mid-yank
As Sue ties a string around the balloon, securing it with tape, she explains her plan to Alex: she intends to “truss it up like a haggis”, and then yank the balloon to the ground, assuming that it will burst on impact.
Sue rests her haggis balloon on the shelf attached to the outside of the hutch, and then walks as far away from it as she can (and as the string allows), stopping near the front gate.
Sue consults with Alex across the garden, as she carefully winds the string back on the reel, making sure that the string is as taut as she can make it without actually moving the balloon.
She confesses that she doesn’t know “what level yank” to use, but ultimately decides on “mid-yank”. After a few mid-yanks, Sue successfully pulls the balloon to the ground, where it bursts (or, as Alex tells her, “it teetered, it wobbled, and then it burst”).
Sue bursts the balloon from 2,459 aspirins’ distance, and wins the task.
