Julian moves the plate
Julian rolls the blank piece of paper into a funnel shape, and wedges it into the vase, holding it upright with the rose stems.
He tries to pick up the plate, but then realises that it’s stuck to the table. He is eventually able to pry the plate from the table without spilling a single drop of water.
He then moves the vase to the lab floor, and carefully carries the plate down to its level. However, he then spills some of the water just before he tilts the plate to transfer its contents into the vase, and he also spills some of it during the pouring process (as he does so, he says “I’ve soiled your floor, Alex”).
Julian is therefore disqualified.
