Lucy tilts the table

Lucy is baffled by the presence of the matches, and wonders if there is enough time to boil away some of the water.

She lights the candle, but then immediately extinguishes it again as she blows out the match.

Seemingly abandoning her plan to evaporate the water, Lucy decides instead to try to pour it into the vase, but is hampered by the discovery that the plate is stuck to the table.

Instead of working the plate free of the gum holding it down, Lucy decides that she will tilt the entire table, and move the water that way.

She rolls the apparently blank piece of paper into a funnel shape, and holds that against the edge of the plate to guide the water into the vase. However, her paper funnel is anything but secure, so all of the water simply runs out of the top of the funnel and directly onto the floor of the lab, without her noticing.

Lucy is therefore disqualified.
