Sam mourns his parents’ murder
Sam’s titles his piece ‘The Case of the Insane Murder’, and it is shot in the style of a film noir.
Police Inspector Alex arrives at the scene of a crime in the living room, where Sam’s parents have been killed.
Sam tells the Inspector that the murderer has hacked his parents to pieces, specifically removing their heads, shoulders, knees and toes (the Inspector quietly repeats the words “knees and toes” after Sam says them).
Sam, still hysterical, then repeats the names of the body parts which have been removed, and the Inspector once again repeats the words “knees and toes” in response.
This annoys Sam, who insists that Alex respect that he is in “the throes of despair”. However, Police Inspector Alex is incapable of restraining himself from once again parroting “knees and toes” when Sam again lists his parents’ decapitated parts.
To add insult to injury, the Inspector then produces a banana and takes a bite from it at the crime scene. When Sam sees this, he asks Alex where he’d got the banana from, and why he’s eating it at midnight, and then the film suddenly ends on this cliffhanger.
Greg awards Sam joint first place.
