Stian’s sugar-based timer

Stian reads the pizza box to find out how long the pizza should cook, and finds out that it is somewhere between six and eight minutes.

After thinking about what could take that amount of time, Stian decides to just improvise a low-rent sand timer, using a bag of sugar with a hole in it.

He admits that his method is based on “zero research”, but believes that just by puncturing the bottom of the bag, the sugar will all spill out over the period of time needed to allow the pizza to cook perfectly.

The bag of sugar is hung from one of the cabinet doors near the oven, and almost immediately after the sugar starts flowing out at a far higher rate than he had anticipated, Stian realises that his pizza will be severely undercooked.

He buys a few extra seconds at the end by manually squeezing the mostly empty bag, to ensure every single grain has been emptied from it.

His pizza, while not inedible, is definitely undercooked.

Stian’s exact cooking time is not given, but he earns third place.
