Kristoffer employs the sniff test
After Kristoffer reads the task brief, Olli says something to him that is not shown in the edit. Kristoffer asks Olli to repeat what he’d said, and then asks if that had also counted as a question. For some reason, this is actually counted as two questions asked by Kristoffer, even though only one of them was a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question.
Kristoffer then gets uncomfortably close to Santa and, when Olli asks what he is doing, replies that he is smelling him. He then confidently declares that his smell test has revealed Santa’s identity - that the unique smell belongs to Tom Mathisen.
Kristoffer attempts to shake Santa’s hand, before remembering that he is not allowed to touch him, and so he leaves the room.
Kristoffer is incorrect about Santa’s identity, but it is likely he recognises that the task is not actually about discerning Santa’s identity, but about asking the fewest ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions.
Having asked only six of such questions, Kristoffer earns second place.
