Solveig snatches defeat from the jaws of victory

Before she reads the task brief, Solveig looks at Santa and says that he must be a mature man.

After reading the task brief, she asks Olli if she is allowed to touch Santa. Olli replies that she is not, and also states that she has just asked a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question, which seems to annoy her.

Solveig then asks Santa if he works in the entertainment industry (yes), and if he’s an actor (yes).

After walking around Santa (seemingly to get a look at his hair), Solveig states that she’s not asking a question, but that Geir Børresen is dead.

Some time seems to pass, during which Solveig asks more questions that are not included in the final edit of her attempt, and her next question to Santa is about whether they have ever made out (no).

Solveig then asks Santa if he is Nils Vogt (no), and whether his name starts with an ‘A’ (yes). After agonising over her options, Solveig finally correctly guesses that Santa is Anders Hatlo.

In the studio, Olli asks Solveig if she’s happy with herself for being the only person to correctly guess Santa’s identity, and Solveig admits that she is indeed very pleased. Unfortunately, for her Atle then asks Olli to remind Solveig about the winning condition of the task: the fewest ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions wins, and there was actually no requirement to correctly guess who Santa was. This revelation cheers up Solveig’s competitors, all of whom had completely failed to identify Santa.

Despite correctly identifying Santa, Solveig had asked 36 ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions, and thus earns last place.
