Sofie’s bisected former contestant

Sofie states to the audience that although she has been practising, presenting her collection involves taking risks “with some beloved Danish culture”. She explains that Denmark would be a poorer place if movies like Centervagt (‘Centre Guard’), Klassefesten 4 (‘Class Party 4’), and Alle for Fire (‘All For Four’) didn’t exist (all of these are poorly-reviewed and poorly-received comedies, with no significant cultural impact).

Sofie then introduces the cultural icon she has risked: season 2 contestant (and actor in all of the previously mentioned films) Stephania Potalivo, who is then rolled onto stage in two boxed halves, apparently trapped midway through the classic ‘sawing a woman in half’ illusion.

Although Stephania attempts to argue that this was not what she had agreed to, Sofie ploughs on with her presentation, insisting that Denmark would be lost without “20% off of Hairlust.dk” (Stephania does a lot of influencer marketing on her social media accounts), and as such, she will bring the excitement by completing the trick and putting Stephania back together.

Sofie dances around the stage as two assistants push Stephania back together. Sofie then removes the blades from the ends of the two boxes, and Stephania climbs out of the box, intact.

It’s unclear exactly what Sofie’s ‘collection’ is, here: perhaps she had defined a collection as merely ‘more than one thing’, thus making the two parts of Stephania a collection; perhaps the very act of putting Stephania back together counts as ‘collecting’ her; or perhaps Sofie’s collection consisted of highlighting Stephania’s questionable career choices.

Lasse says that he has never seen a performance of the ‘sawing a woman in two’ trick where the woman had not ended up being put back together, so he’d found Sofie’s presentation impressive, but not exciting.

Lasse awards Sofie fourth place.
