Mauri takes some time to think

After reading the task brief, Mauri immediately wonders if there’s a better way that it could be accomplished.

He apparently spends some time just reading the task brief and thinking, as David reminds him that his results will be judged based on the time taken. Mauri counters that it would be better to take some time to think and plan ahead for a guaranteed shot.

He finally decides on a method: he will strike the ball with the cue, and then continue to push the ball towards its goal. David immediately shuts down Mauri’s plan, insisting that this “isn’t that kind of task”.

Somewhat annoyed that he has wasted time, Mauri takes a practice shot on the cue ball, and luck is apparently on his side, as this first shot hits the red ball and sends it directly into the pocket.

When Mauri asks David how the task could be so easy, David points out that he had tried to advise Mauri to just take a shot at the ball, but that Mauri had insisted on taking his time to think things through.

Mauri completes the task in 2 minutes and 26 seconds, and earns second place.
