Mauri the kind of cool magician
While talking to Astrid, Mauri learns that she sometimes watches his YouTube channel. He initially believes that this will give him an advantage over the “boomers” attempting the task, but quickly learns that Astrid finds him “lame”, because he’s “just sitting there and not doing much”.
Mauri offers to perform a magic trick for Astrid, and she agrees. However, Mauri quickly bails on his trick almost as soon as he starts it, as he has not performed the trick in a long time, and needs to remind himself how to do it.
After regrouping, Mauri runs his finger across a deck of cards, instructing Astrid to tell him when to stop, and telling her that whenever she does, the card his finger stops at will be the King of Diamonds. His magic trick is successful, and Astrid admits that it was “kind of cool”.
Mauri is quite pleased with being deemed “kind of cool” by a teenager. However, he almost immediately blows it when, in his final 30 seconds, he decides to try rapping Eminiem’s Lose Yourself, with David beatboxing as accompaniment.
Astrid awards Mauri second place, noting “I thought he was cool, until he started rapping”.
