Johan in the hallway with the frying pan
Johan chooses the frying pan and the hallway.
After reading the second task brief, he gets down on his hands and knees and starts slamming the base of the frying pan onto individual balloons, a method which turns out to be surprisingly successful.
He does eventually switch technique, and starts kneeling on the frying pan, on top of single balloons, relying on his weight to pop them, as he starts to tire.
When David asks Johan what his current position might be, had he opted for the cactus rather than the frying pan, Johan sneers that David had neglected to mention that balloon popping was the goal of the task, when he’d had to choose a weapon.
Johan appears to almost give up on the task as he tires, but rallies once he realises he can use the handle of the frying pan to pop the balloons with much less effort (a move that David calls a “game changer”).
In his final minute, Johan breaks the handle off of the frying pan (an action which David once again refers to as a “game changer”), and is able to continue popping balloons even more easily.
Johan appears to be under the impression that the room contains exactly 99 balloons, but runs out of time before he can pop them all, and so also does not get to say the phrase required to end the task.
Johan pops 100 balloons in 10 minutes, and so earns just a single participation point.
