Mauri fails to use echolocation

Mauri feels his way towards the house, telling David that walking while wearing a blindfold is not an ideal situation, before revealing that he has a friend who is blind.

When Mauri has difficulty locating the steps, he considers how his blind friend navigates the world, and then starts snapping his fingers, explaining that his friend can locate things by sound. In response, David starts hooting, mimicking echolocation.

Mauri continues to wander around the driveway until his time runs out, never once managing to actually find the house, let alone entering the lab or building a tower.

In the studio, Mauri assumes that the fact he did not knock over the existing tower of cans meant that he had ended up with the tallest tower, and so he takes a moment to gloat that a man who had wandered around on the driveway for five minutes had managed to win the task. However, Maria rightly points out that Mauri had not actually built anything.

Babben has David read the task brief again, and puts the matter to a vote by the other contestants. None of them agree that Mauri’s attempt should count. Mauri therefore earns only a participation point.
