John's Taskmaster memes

John believes that Greg should get into memes, although Greg immediately disagrees. Regardless, John shows a few Taskmaster memes that he has concocted.

The first one shows a picture of Alex with task briefs in his hand (an image which originally appeared in Jack Bernhardt’s March 2021 article about Taskmaster in The Guardian) with the caption “WHEN YOUR ASSISTANT BE LIKE… A SILLY GOOSE!” in Impact font. Agreeing with the sentiment, Greg admits that he may be more into memes than he’d thought.

Another meme shows a still of Alex standing in a bin in the caravan, taken from Rhod Gilbert’s attempt at the ‘Spectacularly deliver the task to Alex’ task, with the caption “#IGOT99PROBLEMSANDALEXHORNEISALLOFTHEM”. John sees Greg’s delight at the picture and suggests he’s having fun, but Greg counteracts this by saying he is “an old man sweating, looking at something I don’t want to get into.”

[Note: In the outtakes for this series, released on YouTube, it is revealed that there was a third meme from John shown in the studio, featuring a picture of Greg in a lake (as used in the promotion of his Netflix comedy special You Magnificent Beast) with the caption “IT’S A… WEM THING” (referring to Greg’s hometown). Greg gives John a bit of credit for this one, complimenting the meme and vehemently agreeing that it is a “Wem thing”.]

Overall, Greg isn’t very thrilled about the memes, and wants to uphold his reputation as an ex-teacher who despises the young. John therefore receives 2 points.
