Joanne creates a portrait of John
Before Joanne opens the task brief, she spots that almost all of the items in her hamper are red. This makes her question why it’s “colour-coded”, and whether John thinks she is angry or sexual.
Beginning her portrait, Joanne takes inspiration from the roses in her hamper, claiming that John is “quite romantic”. She lays the life vest down to use as his torso, uses the helmet as his head, and decides to use scissors to represent his tongue, pointing out that he’s “a smart guy” (and implying that he has a ‘sharp tongue’).
She uses the roses as John’s hands, but also as his testicles, claiming that he’s “respectful in the sack”. Adding the cushion to her portrait, she argues that John is the kind of person who would provide a cushion “if you needed to be on your knees around him”. When Alex asks Joanne if she’s going to make legs for John, she replies by claiming that she hasn’t seen him walking a lot. To display John’s “je ne sais quoi”, Joanne then sprinkles crisps around her portrait.
When Joanne’s portrait is revealed in the studio, John appreciates it and says it looks like it could be his memorial. Greg, however, observes that it looks like someone dropped their hamper. Joanne rebuts this, claiming that the portrait is meant to capture “the essence of John”, whom she claims to know as a “very sweet, romantic man”.
Greg ultimately decides that Joanne hadn’t necessarily captured much of John in her portrait, despite giving her credit for detail, and she earns just 2 points for her work.
