Steve's hollow promise

Steve begins by asserting that nothing is snazzier than a party, and nothing is more hollow than a hollow promise. A video still of Greg is then shown on the screen, and then the video is played, revealing Greg making a ‘hollow promise’ to attend the stag-do of a man named Ben, dressed as a minotaur.

Steve reveals that Ben’s stag do had taken place the previous week, and asks Greg if he’d actually attended. Greg admits that he never had any intention of going, and states that he has “absolute contempt for the general public”.

Steve reveals that the mastermind behind the whole scheme was Ben’s mother, who he claims is named “Kat Zipser”. An email is shown on screen, showing that ‘Kat’ had contacted Andy Devonshire (the director of the show), asking him to pass along the request for the video message to Greg. When Greg asks if ‘Kat Zipser’ was actually Steve, Steve reveals that the name is actually an anagram of ‘prize task’.

Greg rewards Steve for the cleverness of his idea, awarding him 4 points.

[Note: In the outtakes for this episode which were released on YouTube, Steve is also shown revealing that Greg wasn’t the only one present in the studio who made a ‘hollow promise’ to ‘Ben’. A clip of Nick Mohammed is shown, in which he greets Ben and then shares a birthday message as the character Nate Shelley from Ted Lasso, promising that he will also attend Ben’s party (which, of course, he did not).]
