Pierre becomes a chipmunk

Pierre takes the initial task brief literally (likely in an attempt to be clever), writing down ‘Écrivez cinq mots du quotidien’ (‘Write five everyday words’) [grammar note: ‘Du’ is an article in French grammar that is translated differently depending on the context of the sentence. ‘Écrivez cinq mots du quotidien’, for example, translates literally as ‘Write five words of/for everyday’, but its usage translates more closely to the English word ‘from’ in his actual lyrics].

Pierre writes lyrics to the tune of Silent Night. The translated lyrics to his song are as follows (though some parts are definitely cut out, based on the parts of the melody where the lyrics occur):

Write to Santa Claus,
Before he’s gone from the sky.

At midnight.
Here are some words, my friends.
...
We wish you five more seasons.
Your show does us a lot of good.
We don’t know why we can’t watch it every day.

Pierre’s video features him singing in a cosy cabin, with a fire blazing in the fireplace, and a Christmas tree nearby. However, as Pierre has chosen such a slow song as Silent Night, he does not even get through the first line before Louis stops the video, ordering it to be played at a faster speed (later, Pierre jokes that at least he wasn’t assigned long words, like Patrice had been, or else he would have been singing until New Year’s Eve).

The rest of Pierre’s performance is played back at at least double speed, making him sound like The Chipmunks.

Ruling that “the effort was there, but the result wasn’t”, Louis awards Pierre joint third place.
