Episode 10: Yucky, yucky, yucky, that’s you

Image of Tom Gleeson's portrait, painted in the style of an album cover from the band Kiss, hanging from the balcony of those house, with splatters of green and yellow paint on it (a reference to Dave Hughes' and Lisa McCune's attempt at the 'Charge!' task), with the episode title 'Yucky, yucky, yucky, that’s you' superimposed on it.

Episode synopsis

In this season finale, the contestants must bring in the most satisfying thing to throw into the Grand Canyon, charge as a team, complete the tiny-worded task, get out of their comfort zones, and fly a paper aeroplane through a bladeless fan.

Title context

Tom Cashman reveals in the studio that one of the things Dave Hughes had said to himself during the ‘Complete the tiny-worded task’ task was “Yucky, yucky, yucky, that’s you.”

Taskmaster Intro

Hello and welcome to Taskmaster. Or, as the oldies know it, the gritty reboot of ‘Burgo’s Catchphrase’. Or, as the youth know it, the woke remake of ‘Hotdogs’ Up-Late’. Or, as you and I know it, the season finale.

Note: Burgo’s Catchphrase was the Australian adaptation of the American and British game show Catchphrase. The Up-Late Game Show was a late night interactive Australian quiz show, written and hosted by the 2005 Big Brother Australia contestant Simon Deering, commonly known by the nickname ‘Hotdogs’.

Assistant Intro

And next to me, the guy who wasn’t sure about working for Channel 10 because, back in the day, ‘Cheez TV’ was too rude for him. It’s Tom Cashman.

Note: Cheez TV was an Australian children’s cartoon show, hosted by Ryan Lappin and Jade Gatt, that aired on weekday mornings on Network 10 between 1995 and 2004.

Taskmaster's Sign-off

Well, what have we learnt? We learnt we can fix climate change if we just run at it hard enough. We learnt that Waka has great searching skills, but poor doing-something skills. And once again, we learnt what Tom Cashman looks like as a woman. But most of all, we learnt that, finally, Dave is our winner.
