Taskmaster NZ season 3 news

Fans of New Zealand's version of Taskmaster having been chomping at the bit for confirmation of a third season, following the overwhelmingly positive reception to season 2.

That confirmation finally came from NZ On Air (a government agency which provides funding for public media in New Zealand) in April, via a press release about its latest round of TV show funding.

The excitement was then elevated further by a Reddit post by comedy writer and main task creator Sam Smith on Reddit, revealing that the funding had actually been received months earlier. Early enough, in fact, that he had already written all of the tasks in February 2022, and that the pre-recorded tasks had since already been filmed.

While an official air date has not yet been announced, a recent Reddit post by a New Zealand fan who has been assigned tickets for one of the studio filming sessions shared that these sessions are scheduled to take place between 23 and 27 May 2022. Based on previous seasons' production schedules, the fandom is now speculating that season 3 could therefore air as early as July 2022!

No details of the identities of the fresh panel of contestants have yet been revealed, but I'll post an update here just as soon as I hear anything.
