Susani Mahadura
Biography
Susani Mahadura (born on 14 October 1989) is a Finnish journalist and film director.
She studied television and radio production at Metropoli University of Applied Sciences.
She is part Sri Lankan, from her father's side, and made the Yle Puhe radio programme Mahadura & Özberkan between 2016 and 2020, with the Turkish-born Yagmur Özberkan, covering issues from a multicultural perspective. She also narrated the 24 tuntia Euroopassa ['24 hours in Europe'] documentary.
She has hosted a radio programme about psychology on YLE Puhee, named Susani Mahadura - mielen jäljillä ['Susani Mahadura on the trail of the mind'].
In 2022, she started the TV series Kaaoksen kesyttäjät ['Tamers of Chaos'] on MTV.
In addition to her work as a journalist, she has worked in the film industry as an actor and director. Her first directorial venture, the documentary Kelet (2020), told the story of a Finnish-Somali trans woman who, abandoned by her parents, found a new family and home in vogue dance culture.
