Mastertask notes:
In this version of the task, the contestants must recommend a 30 minute activity that Alex can partake in while visiting Hong Kong.
Task brief
The task brief was emailed to the contestants on the 4th of June 2010. The brief for the task is as follows:
Half An Hour in Hong Kong.
On 20 June I am going to Hong Kong for six days. Please tell me what to do when I'm there by suggesting an activity that takes no more than half an hour. Just tell me where to go and what to do. The more details the better.
YOU MUST SEND ME YOUR SUGGESTION IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS. SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL GET ON AND DO IT NOW(ish).
I will attempt to try all the activities suggested (or at least the top ten), and the ones I enjoy most (for whatever reason) will win the suggester the points.
Task notes
- Joe Wilkinson told Alex to go to a British pub and have a pint of traditional British beer.
- Henning Wehn sent Alex to a restaurant named German Sausage King in the Southorn Centre.
- Lloyd Langford instructed Alex to buy some earrings in Kowloon's jade market for his girlfriend, Anne Edmonds.
- Lloyd Woolf instructed Alex to go up and down in the lift of his hotel for half an hour while trying to sell the contents of his pockets to anyone else who got onto the lift during that time.
- Stuart Goldsmith recommended that Alex visit The Avenue of the Stars at Victoria Harbour and stand with a grill shelf suspended by shoelaces from his index fingers, which should be inserted into his ears, and look at the view of the harbour while someone (perhaps his wife) rattles and bangs some cutlery against the grill. Alex did follow these instructions, with Tim Key playing the part of his wife. Stuart described this experience as the 'Inner Ear Orchestra - Cantopop Edition'.
