Special synopsis

The Taskmaster was a 2010 Edinburgh Festival Fringe show presented by Alex Horne. Throughout 2009, he set 20 comedians monthly tasks. In the two-hour show, he discussed each contestant’s attempts at each task, with a screen behind him showing photographs of attempts.

Notes

  • In episode 13 of the Taskmaster podcast Alex Horne revealed that Dave Gorman had been invited to participate in this version of the show but was unable to do so.
  • He also revealed that the contestants were set 12 tasks during the course of the year, and that the results of the tasks were shared on stage in Edinburgh over a three hour period.
  • In the episode of Taskmaster The People's Podcast released on 15 July 2022, contestant and long-time Taskmaster warm-up guy Mark Olver shared that he'd only really completed about half of the tasks for the show.
  • An individual who was in the audience of this show recalled on Facebook that any contestants who couldn't attend the live show to defend their efforts had been immediately disqualified, and this included Mark Watson.
  • Mike Wozniak won the contest, and was referred to as ‘The Taskmaster’ by Alex Horne upon receiving his trophy.
