Task brief

The task brief was emailed to the contestants on the 1st of October 2009. The brief for the task is as follows:

Find A Hedgehog.

You must find a hedgehog.

You must then let me know that you have found a hedgehog.

How you do this is up to you, but you must convince me that you have found a hedgehog.

If I am convinced that you have found a hedgehog you shall receive 10 points.

If I am not convinced that you have found a hedgehog you shall receive 0 points.

You have one month to find a hedgehog.

Task notes

Tim Key placed first and earned 10 points in this task by emailing Alex and claiming that he had found a hedgehog within 6 minutes. After this was announced by Alex on stage, Tim shouted out "Found it, fucked it, ate it".
The other contestants struggled to find hedgehogs, though some were able to solve the task by visiting wildlife hospitals.
Alex received 'terse excuse-filled emails' from Rick Edwards, Tom Basden, and Mark Olver, while Mark Watson claimed that hedgehogs were actually mythical creatures.
Alex ended up giving some of the contestants extra time to complete this task.
