Task brief

The task brief was emailed to the contestants on the 14th of September 2009. The brief for the task is as follows:

Money Fun.

Please deposit a sum of money into my Barclays bank account: number ######### sort code ##-##-##.

Whoever sends me the most money will receive 10 points, the second most 8 points, the third 6, fourth 4 and the fifth 2.

The person (or people) who sends me the least money will be docked 10 points.

The total amount I receive will make up the prize pot for the 2010 Edinburgh challenge.

You have until the end of the month to make the transfer.

Task notes

  • Alex Horne’s actual account number and sort code were included in the task brief, a shorter version of which was projected on screen at the Edinburgh Fringe event.
  • 18 of the contestants sent money to Alex's bank account, with amounts ranging from just 13p from Al Pitcher, to Mark Watson's winning sum of £104.
  • Lloyd Langford came in second place with his transfer of £102.34, Mike Wozniak gave Alex a £1 Jersey banknote, and Tim Key invoiced Alex for £40 (presumably losing 10 points immediately by doing so).
  • The final prize pot had a value of at least £250.
