Season synopsis

The first series of Taskmaster, consisting of six episodes, originally aired on Dave between July and September 2015, and featured contestants Frank Skinner, Josh Widdicombe, Roisin Conaty, Romesh Ranganathan, and Tim Key.

The studio segments of the show were filmed in the Clapham Grand Theatre in Battersea.

Notes

  • In episode 13 of the Taskmaster podcast, Alex Horne revealed that an 'Episode 0' of this series was filmed as a proof of concept, but has not been aired.
  • During this series, Greg Davies introduces each of the guests at the beginning of each episode with an amusing comment, which is something that is not continued in the following series.
  • Greg delivers his introduction and parting words from a standing position during this series, rather than from his chair/throne, as he does in all of the following series.
  • During this series, Alex's tablet is mounted to his chair on a flexible arm, unlike in all of the following series, where he just holds it instead.
  • There is no caravan at the Taskmaster house during this series.
  • The prizes brought in by the contestants are displayed on a balcony of the theatre during this series, rather than being brought out onto the stage at the end of the episode.
  • The interstitial scenes either side of the ad breaks in this series are the same from episode to episode, unlike with all of the following series.
  • In the team tasks during this series, the members of the winning team score two points each, and the losers receive no points at all.
  • Josh Widdicombe won this series by just one point. Some consider this outcome controversial, since he was awarded a single point for completing his bean/spaghetti hoop/rice counting tasks in episode 4 (tasks which no-one else had the misfortune/opportunity to complete).
