In this version of the task, the contestants are notified on the morning of an unannounced date that they must try to be one of the three fastest contestants to find Alex at London Zoo.

Task briefs

The task brief was emailed to the contestants on the 4th of July 2010. An extra email was then sent to Mark Olver on the 20th of July 2010. The briefs for the task are as follows:

Where's Ally?

On a particular day this month I will be at a particular place at a particular time. First three people to find me get the points (15 for first, 10 for second, 5 for third). That's it.

I will only tell you where I am on the morning of that particular day. Then it's a race. I know some of you will find it harder to get there than others (Mr Pitcher, for example, will probably be in Sweden - I will probably not be in Sweden). That's a shame.

So, see you in this particular location on a particular day this month.

Dear Mark,

Due to the fact that you live outside London I have decided to give you an extra couple of days warning as to my whereabouts for this month's challenge.

So you are hereby warned that this Saturday, 24 July, I shall be at London Zoo (probably near the giraffes). If you find me there you shall receive many, many points.

Task notes

Only Tim Fitzhigham found Alex at London Zoo. However, instead of approaching Alex, Tim decided to stalk him around the zoo while secretly taking photographs of him, which he then revealed at the live show.
