Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Avoid the Taskmaster’s big ball.

You must stand on the circle, but you must not step on any gold.

You must be facing and staring at the Taskmaster sign at all times and, after the Taskmaster releases his big ball, you may each take one step.

The first person touched by the Taskmaster’s big ball each round is eliminated.

Last player standing wins.

Task notes

The contestants are lined up side-by-side on the stage, while Alex is stood on the left of the stage and Greg is stood on the right-hand side.
A large circular target of concentric red and black rings, with a golden bullseye, has been set up on the lower part of the stage.
A gold-painted space hopper has been suspended on rope from the ceiling of the studio, and is hanging a few feet above the centre of the target.
Once the task brief has been read, the contestants are instructed to choose a starting position on the target and keep looking at the ‘Taskmaster’ sign on the front of the second tier of the audience seating.
In each round, the contestants can choose a new starting position, and may take one evasive step.
Greg launches the ball in such a manner that it circles the target and gradually oscillates back towards the centre, to stand the best chance of it hitting someone.
As the contestants are eliminated, they must take a seat on the elimination bench on the upper part of the stage.
