Pirjo the hammer thrower

Pirjo is the only one of the contestants to correctly interpret the task brief immediately after reading it.

She runs to the shed for supplies, soon emerging with a roll of tape, a small plastic watering can, and a long strap.

She then goes to the kitchen in search of a different container, soon finding a glass bottle. She fills the bottle with water, taping it down to secure it, and protecting it by placing it inside of an oven mitt.

After attaching the oven mitt and water bottle to the strap, she goes back outside to the driveway, and spins the strap around her body like a hammer thrower, flinging it as far away from herself as she can, before instantly rejecting her own throw by declaring it “disqualified”.

After another attempt using the same technique, which lands in almost the exact same spot, Pirjo checks with Pilvi to see if she can make multiple attempts (as opposed to her final throw being the one that is registered, presumably), and then runs off in search of a better throwing location. She attempts a few more throws in the woods near the mansion before her time runs out.

In the studio, Jaakko asks why Pirjo had opted for the hammer throw as opposed to a regular throw. Pirjo struggles to explain her thought process, stammering about leverage and speed, before jokingly admitting that she’s not a professional hammer thrower.

Pirjo throws water 18 metres, and earns second place. Jaakko also awards her a bonus point for her hammer-throwing (and possibly because she was the only contestant to actually fully understand the task as intended).
