Pamela hedges her bets
Pamela’s initial interpretation of the task clearly followed in the footsteps of Joonas, Eero, and Olga before her, as the footage of her attempt begins after she has already driven some distance away from the mansion, and is walking further away from the car while holding the fishbowl.
However, she soon abruptly stops, and asks Pilvi if the task wording actually meant that she was meant to throw the water as far away from the fishbowl as possible. As she wonders out loud about whether the task wording is open to interpretation, she is interrupted by Pilvi, who stares down the barrel of the camera and insists that the task wording is quite clear.
Having decided that the task is actually about throwing the water as far away from the container – and not the task location – as possible, Pamela and Pilvi then return to the mansion, and Pamela goes to the shed in search of things to help her.
She finds a tiny toy watering can, and – after relocating to a long stretch of driveway near the mansion – fills it with water, then tapes up any openings. After a short running start, Pamela then underhand-throws the watering can down the driveway, before picking it up and then throwing it even further.
Hedging her bets on the meaning of the task brief, she then dumps out the remaining contents of the fishbowl of water in her final seconds, telling Pilvi that she has thrown that water a fair distance from the table where she began the task.
In the studio, Pamela argues that her multiple throws along the driveway should be combined into a single distance [which would be in line with Riku Rantala’s winning strategy in the ‘Throw a Finnish item as far as possible’ task].
It is judged that Pamela had thrown water 20.6 metres, and she therefore wins the task.
