The task brief is laid on the table in the lab. The brief for the task is as follows:
Blow a portrait in the sand of a former Suurmestari contestant.
Use the implement that corresponds with the number rolled with the die.
Only air may touch the sand.
Best portrait wins.
You have 12 minutes.

Task notes
- Also on the table, there is a set of bellows, a set of panpipes, a bugle, a recorder, a hosepipe, and a foot pump. Each is labelled with a different number between 1 and 6.
- On the floor, there is a square wooden sandbox about a metre long on each side, with a connected wooden compartment containing a large six-sided die.

Notes on task scores
- Pirjo and Olga both earn a bonus point for “creatively stretching the rules” (i.e. for figuring out that the die could be rolled more than once, to effectively pick their preferred tool). However, this decision was likely also made to ensure some sort of change on the scoreboard, as Jaakko had otherwise awarded everyone the same amount of points for this task (just as he initially had for the prize task).
