Jenny fails to live by Lloyd’s very straight-forward mantra

After reading the first task brief, Jenny announces that she’s going to do a “brain dump” out loud, and tells Tom Cashman not to judge her.

She begins by saying that she’s thinking of powerful influential people, and that the first person that comes to her mind is Hitler. Tom shares that he is now judging her, based on this.

Eventually, Jenny choose “Risk existence. Go the distance.” as her mantra, which she writes in black on her poster, the word ‘existence’ only just fitting on the board. She also sticks some black feathers to the middle of the boar, and adds a drawing of the Earth, centred on Australia, at the top.

For the second part of the task, Jenny is presented with Lloyd’s mantra of “Don’t drop your pasta until the water is boiling”. She immediately recognises the set-up of the task as a continuation of the mantra task, but is disappointed to discover that the mantra is not her own.

She laughs at the mantra, and correctly guesses that it’s Lloyds, noting that he had given himself the most beautiful lips in his drawing.

She decides to take a very literal interpretation of Lloyd’s mantra, heading to the kitchen to find some pasta. She puts a pan of water on to boil, and then attempts to dress as Lloyd while she is waiting, for some reason choosing to wear a blonde wig, before painting her lips bright red to match his drawing of himself.

Unable to wait around any longer, Jenny decides that the water is boiling when there are just a few small bubbles present in the pan, and drops the pasta into it before leaving the kitchen. After she has left, Tom gets a thermometer out from a drawer, revealing that the temperature of the water was just 52.2°C.

In the studio, Tom Gleeson asks Jenny why she hadn’t wait for the water to boil, bearing in mind that was the only requirement of the mantra. She explains that she thought the presence of bubbles meant that it was boiling and, as she is corrected by those around her, asks if she is actually only now learning how to boil water.

Jenny earns just 1 point for failing to meet the basic requirement of Lloyd’s mantra.
