Task briefs

The first task brief is attached to a jute twine washing line, strung up above the desk in the study, with an old-fashioned wooden clothes peg. The second task brief is presented in the same location in the same manner. The briefs for the task are as follows:

Create an original mantra to live by, and put it on a motivational poster.

Most original mantra wins.

You have 12 minutes.

Your time starts now.

Live by the mantra on the poster.

Best living by of a mantra wins.

You have 20 minutes.

Your time starts now.

Task notes

  • Also hanging from the washing line for the presentation of both task briefs, there is a small plush cat toy, referencing the classic ‘Hang in there’ motivational poster.
  • The contestants are provided with a large poster board, and craft supplies including marker pens and feathers, to create their motivational posters.
  • For the second part of the task, the cat is peering over the top of the motivational poster created by one of the other contestants, which has been pegged up on the washing line (except for the one presented to Anne Edmonds, which is propped up on the table behind a statue of a pig).
