Everyone shares beautiful childhood memories

After Josh has beautifully read out the task brief, Jenny checks that the aim is to deceive the Taskmaster, and also clarifies whether the memory shared has to be a true memory. Tom Cashman confirms that it can be either true or false.

Stepping up to the microphone first, Lloyd says “On a family holiday to Wollongong, three separate dogs urinated on my brother.” Tom Gleeson jokingly muses about who might have both gone on holiday to Wollongong and knows how to speak with a Welsh accent, before correctly identifying Lloyd, who is eliminated and initially earns just 1 point.

Wil then steps up to the microphone and puts on a high-pitched voice, saying “This one time at band camp, I had an incident with a flute.” Tom Gleeson observes that this person is clearly reminiscing about their time in the move American Pie, and then incorrectly guesses that it is Josh.

Anne steps up to the mic third, talking very quickly and indecisively in quite a soft voice, in an attempt to emulate Josh Thomas, saying “My favourite holidays were in the Sunshine Coast. Oh no, Gold Coast. Wait, let me think about it. Sometimes the Gold Coast, sometimes the Sunshine Coast. No, wait. They both are close to Brisbane. So, oh wait. Gold Coast. Yes, Gold Coast.” Tom Gleeson observes that the answer had gone on for way too long, which made him think it was Josh. However, because he had already guessed Josh during Wil’s turn, he correctly chooses Anne instead, so she is eliminated and earns just 1 point.

Josh steps up to the mix and speaks in a voice which makes him sound like a child, saying “When I was a little boy and it was Christmas, and I wanted a train set, but my parents said I could not have a train set. But then they said I could have a train set, and I got a train set.” Tom Gleeson laughs, admitting that he’s all out of whack now, and incorrectly guesses that it’s Jenny.

Jenny takes the mic last in the round, and attempts to mislead Tom Gleeson into believing she is Wil, saying “I was on a farm, and it was a really big farm, with a lot of animals. And I touched the animals and… I got my father’s approval.” Tom Gleeson correctly guesses that it was Jenny, reasoning that her depiction of farm life sounded like that of someone who’s prolific on TikTok. Jenny is therefore eliminated and earns just 1 point.

With just Josh and Wil left in the game, they are instructed to play a round of ‘rock paper scissor’ to decide who will step up to the mic first, in a sudden death round. Josh throws scissors, but Wil wins with rock. Wil then nominates Josh to step up to the mic first, to share another childhood memory. Josh says “When I was a little kid, I went on a hike. And what I did on the hike I, I fell down a waterfall, and my dad saved me, and I owe him my life.” Tom Gleeson observes that the speaker has “the desperation of Josh Tomas”, and so Josh is eliminated, earning 4 points, while Wil wins the task and 5 points.

Tom Gleeson then awards Lloyd the bonus point for sharing the best memory.
