Pirjo sets herself an extra task

Pirjo heads to the kitchen in search of items to build her machine, but suddenly becomes doubtful, confusing a bingo machine with a lottery machine.

Only two short clips of Pirjo’s building process are shown: one of her wandering out of the shed, holding a scale, while identifying it as a machine (which is technically correct); and another of Pirjo fretting over actually using her bingo machine, as she starts to transport it back to the living room.

Pirjo’s bingo machine consists of two parts: one part is a clear blue bowl which holds five ping-pong balls (which seem to each represent one of the letters in ‘BINGO’); the other is a colander holding various plastic balls, onto which Pirjo has written numbers. The colander also has the scale shoved into it, almost as an afterthought. When Pilvi questions its inclusion, Pirjo admits that its sole reason for being there is so that she can call her creation a ‘machine’.

Pirjo plays bingo caller for Pilvi, calling out “B2”, then repeating it in English for no reason. When Pirjo then calls out Pilvi’s next number – “O5” – Pilvi asks if she can also have it in English. Pirjo obliges, calling out “Oh-five. Oh my god”.

Pirjo starts to call out a third number, but stops herself, as she realises that at least one of her balls has gone missing.

When the edit returns to Pirjo and Pilvi’s bingo game, Pilvi loudly cries out “BINGO!”. Pirjo, still speaking in English for whatever reason, agrees, but says that she needs to check Pilvi’s results, “because sometimes people are shouting bingo, but they don’t have nothing”, presumably because they are hoping for a better chance at earning the “big winning money” (in response, Pilvi says in English that she is humbled by the whole affair).

In the studio, Pirjo yells at her past self for overcomplicating the task, and not taking the easy out that Pilvi had provided. She jokingly insists that her task brief had stated that she was required to speak in English for the duration.

Jaakko awards everyone 3 points as a baseline score. Pirjo is the only contestant who does not have points added to or subtracted from this baseline.
