Jenni makes a parachute

After reading the task brief, Jenni says that she’s aware that the vegetable will fall if she drops it, but wonders if it would still count as falling were she to throw her vegetable, instead.

She decides to make a parachute out of a plastic bag, to help slow her chosen vegetable’s descent. After making her parachute, Jenni returns to the kitchen to choose her vegetable.

After testing the weight of each vegetable, she decides to choose the potato because it is the heaviest (though she never explains why this would be advantageous).

Jenni then heads to the second-floor balcony of the house and prepares to throw her potato, explaining to Pilvi (several times) that throwing is allowed within the rules of the task. She throws the potato as far away from the balcony as she can. However, since the potato is heavy, the parachute does not have enough time to catch wind and open before it crashes to the ground.

In the studio, Jaakko asks Mikko what he thinks of Jenni’s logic: does throwing result in falling? Mikko agrees that it does, and agrees that her parachute idea was a stroke of genius, although he acknowledges that, as it didn’t deploy, “the results speak for themselves.”

Jenni’s potato falls for “a whopping” 1.9 seconds, and she earns joint third place.
