Joonas, aka ‘Quite a Weird Dude’

None of Joonas’ preparations are shown – just a very brief clip of him looking through the costume rack.

Instead, the introduction to Joonas’ superhero begins with him leaving the bathroom, clutching a large bottle, wearing tight (and most definitely stuffed) gold trousers, a flannel shirt, a cape tied around his neck, sunglasses, and a backwards baseball cap. He saunters into the living room and drops into one of the chairs, leaning back in it and then kicking one leg up on the table.

When Pilvi arrives in the room, Joonas welcomes her by pointing out the “blastin’” sun and the “brewskis” on the table, commenting that life is “pretty bueno” (Joonas has adopted the Finnish equivalent of ‘bro’ talk for his superhero). He introduces himself as “Ihan Ihme Jätkä” (‘Quite a Weird Dude’; this phrase is a joke in and of itself, as ‘ihme’, taken in isolation, actually means ‘wonderful’ or ‘amazing’). He shares that his “indisputable strength” is that he’s “super annoying”, and that his weakness is “well-reasoned arguments about feminist issues”, adding that talk about make-up is his kryptonite. He also announces his intention to go on a “pussy safari” (Joonas says “pipari”, which actually means ‘gingerbread’, but much like the ‘pesä’ from Jenni’s attempt, this has also become a euphemism for ‘pussy’).

In the studio, Jaakko contrasts Joonas’ superhero with Pirjo’s, stating that while Joonas might find the idea of someone who can only see the future tragic, he himself finds tragedy in just how much of the present is reflected in Joonas’ superhero. To lift the mood, Joonas jokes that one of the superheroes (Blindsaurus) is “very lucky” not to be able to see Quite a Weird Dude.

Jaakko awards Joonas first place.
