Ben and Hayley build a pasta tower

Hayley and Ben start by asking Paul for clarification about the secret rules, with Hayley saying “So, we don’t know the rules Paul?” and Ben following with “If we accidentally break one, there’s a punishment”. Because they both used words beginning with ‘P’, Paul asks them to step back, and he turns the fans on.

Hayley then suggests that they make “a pyramid” with the lasagna sheets, triggering the fans again, and Ben works out that the fans being switched on might have something to do with saying ‘P’-words.

In order to avoid breaking the rule again, they decide to just stop talking at all, as they start to build a house of cards with the lasagna sheets. When Paul comments on them not talking, suggesting that perhaps not speaking would break one of the rules, Ben snaps back “We know it’s not talking, Paul”, thereby saying another ‘P’-word and causing the fans to be turned on again, though they do not do much damage to their tower base. While the fans run, Ben explains to Hayley the ‘P’-words that had caused the fans to be turned on (‘pyramid’, ‘pasta’, ‘Paul’), and Hayley shushes him so he doesn’t say another one after the fans turn off. He then says “We’re in purgatory”, immediately triggering the fans again.

Hayley and Ben manage to make a solid base for their tower out of lasagna sheets, and then start to place spaghetti strands into the structure to build height. While discussing where they’re placing them, Hayley tries to stop herself from saying “poles” but fails, so the fans are switched back on.

While they wait, they are super pleased that the fan is not damaging their tower, and they high-five in celebration, unwittingly breaking the rule about touching one another, and causing the vibrating platform to be turned on, destroying their tower. Ben works out that the rule is probably that they’re not allowed to touch one another.

They soon manage to rebuild the base of their tower. When Paul tells them they’ve got 12 minutes left, Hayley begins to thank him, but is able to avoid saying his name, switching it out for “friend”.

Hayley then builds a precarious structure by leaning two stacks of lasagna sheets against one another like a house of cards on top of their base. She then makes the mistake of saying “If we just put the things in…”, again triggering the vibrating platform and causing their whole tower to be destroyed.

The team subsequently rebuild their tower base again and then decide to put a big bundle of spaghetti across the top and then stick some individual strands into it to make it taller. However, Hayley accidentally says “pretty”, causing the fans to be turned on again. The tower remains standing, though, so they go back to working on it, but then Ben also accidentally says “pretty”. Fortunately, their tower stays upright once again.

In the studio, Hayley argues that she and Ben had used nothing but pasta in their tower, and didn’t get any glue or tape. When Madeleine quickly points out that their bundle of spaghetti was held together with what looked like a rubber band, Hayley claims that it was “made entirely from slightly sucked pasta” (thus coining the episode title).

The team of two earn 2 points for their tower.
