Abby, Tofiga, and Tom build a pasta tower

Abby has the idea to leave the lab and search for materials, which she does while Tom and Tofiga re-read the task brief. While doing this, Tom says the word “pasta”, breaking one of the rules and causing the fans to be turned on, though there is nothing for them to cause any damage to. Abby re-enters the lab and initially guesses that one of the rules might be about leaving the room, but they soon work out that this isn’t the case, so she continues her search for supplies.

Tom and Tofiga tentatively work with the lasagna sheets, with Tom trying to make some kind of walls with them that they can balance more sheets on. While doing this, he says “The problem with pasta is it’s dry”, causing the fans to be turned on again.

Tom realises that they can’t say the word ‘pasta’, which he communicates to his team-mates by saying they can’t say “a certain ‘P’-word” and gesturing towards the pasta. Abby jokingly responds “Ah, penis” and giggles, causing the fans to turn on again. This prompts Tofiga to suggest that that it’s probably any word starting with the letter ‘P’.

During her search outside the lab, Abby appears to have found some glue, which the team plans to use to glue the lasagna sheets together. While discussing where they should put the glue, Tom asks if they should do it on the seam. In an attempt to get them to break a rule, Paul asks them for more details, but Tom responds with “The seam of the two…”, and Abby steps in with “…materials”, before gloating “You’re not going to get us that easily, Paul”, causing the fans to go on again. Although this wastes time, there is no actual tower in place yet for the fans to damage.

Tom starts building the tower, placing the lasagna sheets so they’re standing on their edges and glued to a flat lasagna sheet at the base. He then tries balancing another layer of two vertical sheets glued to a flat sheet on top of that base, but this very unstable tower quickly falls over.

While Tom and Abby are working with glue, Tofiga makes his own similar tower of lasagna sheets using some purple tape. While they’re working, Tofiga and Abby accidentally brush against one another, breaking the rule about physical contact, and triggering the vibrating platform. However, the vibration doesn’t appear to cause any damage to their construction.

Tofiga keeps working on his own tower, while Tom starts building one by gluing small pieces of pasta to one another and building upwards.

As the team discusses what might have triggered the vibrating platform, Tofiga says “I think that guy was just being a prick”, thereby triggering the fans again.

Tom places his pasta tower on top of Tofiga’s lasagna sheet base, creating a nice little leaning tower. To finish it off, Tom glues some individual strands of spaghetti to the top of the tower to increase its height. This works beautifully, but Tofiga then says “Perfect”, causing the fans to turn on again, though they do not cause any damage.

The team of three earns 4 points for their tower.
