Tom uses a pulley system

Tom decides to try to turn on the green desk lamp using a pulley system.

He finds some green string, which he ties around the lamp’s pull-cord, and then unravels as he heads upstairs to the study. However, when he pulls on the string from the study, it either breaks or becomes detached from the lamp.

Tom finds some stronger blue string and tries his method again, but ends up just pulling the desk lamp over instead. To remedy this, he places some books around the lamp to support it. He is then able to successfully turn on the lamp from the study.

Tom completes the task in just 9 minutes and 45 seconds, earning 5 points.
