Tom learns that he might be autistic

Tom begins his attempt by looking in Paul’s folder, and quickly identifies that all of the photos are of people named Anna. He then picks up the shoe with the pita bread in it and guesses “Peter shoe. Peter Pan”.

He then picks up the wastepaper basket with the foot in it, and notices that the foot has a blue toe, but Paul says he doesn’t have to include this item, since it’s just rubbish.

Tom gives himself a pep talk, saying “Sainsbury brain, don’t fail me now.”

He then looks at the chocolate bar and first guesses that it’s a Snickers, before questioning if maybe it’s a Mars, and then breaking it in half to confirm the latter.

After looking at the Venus fly trap, he says he’s got it, stating that the chocolate bar represents the planet Mars, and that plant represents Venus. He then works out that the bread and shoe represent Jupiter, that the fork represents Neptune, and that Paul’s manila folder of photos represents Uranus.

In the studio, having also seen Abby solve the task with the pattern recognition abilities she credits to her autism, Tom wonders whether he should also be tested for the condition. Paul responds to this that the task itself was the test.

It’s revealed that Tom had completed the task in 8 minutes and 54 seconds, which earns him second place and 4 points.
