Luke drops anchor
Luke finds a wooden anchor, and decides to tape the pencil to the end of it, and drop it onto the aubergine from the balcony.
He holds the aubergine in place on the ground by laying two planks either side of it.
He misses his first attempt but, fortunately, the pencil just gets pushed back through its tape constraints, rather than breaking.
Re-taping the pencil in place, he has another go, and manages to penetrate the aubergine with the pencil, though it does not remain impaled.
In the studio, Tom Cashman clarifies that the task brief had not specified that the pencil must remain stuck in the aubergine for any length of time. He reveals that Luke managed to get the pencil into the vegetable from 4.45 metres away, which earns him second place.
