Anders proposes with an impassioned speech
Anders bemoans the fact that he is only given 30 minutes for the task, telling Mark that the time limit is an insult to their flourishing love.
Anders compares the rapid growth of their love to the growth of the nearby ‘Forstbotanisk Have’ (‘Forestry Botanical Garden’, a giant public garden with large diversity of tree and plant life).
He describes Mark as a unique individual, “the tree among trees”, and tells Mark he has nothing more to offer than his beating heart.
Falling to his knees, Anders tells Mark a story of two trees in Forstbotanisk Have about which he is particularly fond.
Anders considers himself one of the trees, but until now he had never quite known who would fill the role of the other tree.
Anders tells Mark that he wants to tell more of the story, but he cannot, as he is on gravel and his knees are starting to bleed.
After asking for Mark’s hand, Mark promises to think about it, and walks away.
Dejected, Anders sits on the gravel, then screams his feelings of love at the retreating Mark.
Lasse acknowledges the sincerity in Anders’ proposal, but also reminds him that someone receiving a marriage proposal wants to be given a special memory, which Anders did not provide.
He therefore awards Anders fourth place.
