Fathi’s instrument
Fathi brings in a ‘kantele’ (a traditional zither-like instrument). In the epic Finnish poem Kalevala, a wise man named Vainamoinen often sang while playing the kantele. Fathi likens Jaakko to Vainamoinen, as they are both “mystical figures surrounded by idiots”. Jaakko awards Fathi second place for his “perceptive observation”.
