Ray dances towards Mel
Mel quickly comes up with a strategy for directing Ray, who is wearing the blindfold.
She plans to simply extend her words, holding the vowel sounds as long as Ray should keep walking, and only stopping when he needs to stop. This system works out well, and she is able to navigate him around the first few sections with extended pronunciations of the words “move”, “turn”, “bah”, and “slow”. She warns him that he needs to step up over the first hay bale by simply saying “hay bale”.
Mel then starts positioning herself outside the maze in the general direction she needs Ray to walk, so he can just move towards her until she stops pronouncing each of her words. He starts adopting a sort of shuffling dance as he travels, while pointing playfully towards her.
She uses the words “O’Leary”, “hand”, and “Nando’s”, before resorting to just using an extended “Oooh!”. When Ray reaches the second hay bale, she warns him by saying “straw heap” and “around”.
She then uses the words “belt” and “button” to continue to direct him through the maze, at which point he says that he suspects she’s just naming things that are on his body.
For the final stretch to the exit of the maze, Mel utters what sounds like “herepiea…” before trailing off as he reaches the end.
She then cheers, giggles, and jumps towards the blindfolded Ray to give him a hug, which makes him jump and recoil.
They successfully complete the maze in just 10 minutes and 40 seconds, earning 5 points.
